August 14th is one of those weird and wonderful days, did you know it’s Tattoo Removal Day?!! Not surprisingly, Tattoo Removal Day is created in direct response to Tattoo Day and is traditionally celebrated 30 days after Tattoo Day. 30 days being the earliest day a tattoo can be removed post inking.
Tattoos have deep roots in many cultures and have been practised since Neolithic times. Sometimes they are seen positively, such as in Polynesia where they are believed to display a person’s spiritual power. Sometimes they are seen negatively such as in Japan, where a tattoo will see you excluded from attending the local Onsen.
Either way, it’s an interesting art, with rich history. Occasionally it’s terrible art, with humorous history relating to alcohol consumption and, makes for a great story so, Tattoo Removal Day serves a purpose! How do tattoos feature in your homestay accommodation?
